Spider-Man Visionaries (Todd McFarlane)
IT WAS FANDOM THAT HAD BEGUN TO CLIMB THE WALLS. People were even talking about the way he drew webs! Todd McFarlane exploded on the scene with more excitement than any other artist in Marvel history. His ability to mesh a cartoonish style with a painstakingly intense detail made him a fan-favorite artist the instant his art graced the pages of Amazing Spider-Man. And no one could get enough of him. Amazing Spider-Man soon doubled its circulation becoming Marvel's first bi-weekly comics magazine. And even that was not enough for fans.
Nor was it enough for Mr. McFarlane.
Now Spider-Man has some of the greatest villains in the world. The Green Goblin. The Lizard. The Vulture.
But it was not until McFarlane came on the scene (or actually drew it) that a new villain was created that would reach the sort of fan-hysteria that Spider-Man's classic villains already had.
This villain would be called Venom. And collected here is Spider-Man's first clash with one of Spider-Man's (now) most infamous villains.
