THE CONCEPT: A young girl is born the heir to an alien religious dynasty, an Avatar, pawn to warring factions of a world of powerful and decadent psionics. THIS ISSUE: If you've never read A Distant Soil before, this is an excellent place to start! The opening pages of this issue give new readers an excellent overview of the series thus far as the young Avatar Liana and her now deposed predecessor find themselves prisoners of the evil Hierarchy who intend to groom her into becoming the ultimate weapon. But though she is no more than fifteen, Liana has spent enough time around the scheming and sinister aliens of her home world and she has plans of her own for how to deal with them. Meanwhile, far beneath the glittering spires of the floating alien world, the rebels gather to stage their final assault on their Hierarchy masters.
