Q: What is happening?

A: G-Mart is making a strategy change to focus 100% on our ‘Virtual Comic Shop’ online and is transferring operation of the retail stores in Chicago, IL and Champaign, IL to Dark Tower Comics on October 30, 2023. G Mart will continue to operate, improve, and grow its online business for shipping customers, and will ensure that local retail customers have a smooth transition to Dark Tower. Q: I’m an online shipping customer with G-Mart, do I need to do anything?

A: No! Online shipping customers are unaffected by the sale of the retail locations.

Q: I’m a local pickup customer with G-Mart in Chicago or Champaign, do I need to do anything?

A: Yes! You need to choose whether to continue uninterrupted subscriptions/pre-orders with Dark Tower:

OPT-IN = transfer your subscription/pre-order information to Dark Tower for uninterrupted service.
OPT-OUT = keep your subscriptions/pre-orders with G-Mart but switch your G-Mart account to shipping.

NOTE: G-Mart strongly encourages local pickup customers to OPT-IN because we believe in the value of Local Comic Shops and we want Dark Tower to succeed by earning your business with great service. This is also the best option for seamless uninterrupted local pickup service, and we don’t want anyone to miss a single issue!

NOTE: G-Mart asks local pickup customers to OPT-IN before October 25, 2023, for smoothest service.
NOTE: G-Mart will no longer offer local pickup service for any customers after December 10, 2023.
NOTE: customers who do nothing will be automatically switched to shipping service on December 10, 2023.

Q: Who is Dark Tower Comics?

A: Dark Tower Comics is a long-standing and reputable comic book retailer in Chicago, IL with a 20-year track record. It has a discount Pull Box Service, an extensive collection of trades and $2 comics, a team of friendly and knowledgeable staff, and was named "Best Comic Book Store" in 2008 by Chicago Magazine. With decades of experience in the business, it has a strong reputation among the Chicago comic community. G-Mart fully believes that Dark Tower has the vision to take the retail stores to the next level of ‘Local Comic Shop’ greatness!

Q: I’m a Chicago or Champaign local pickup customer and I want to OPT-IN to continue local pickup with Dark Tower. How do I do that?

A: There are two easy methods to OPT-IN to transfer your subscription/pre-order information to Dark Tower:

#1: online: login to your G-Mart account and follow the links for "Retail Transition" to the page to OPT-IN.
#2: in store: ask a G-Mart associate for the printed form to sign approval to OPT-IN and transfer information.

NOTE: G-Mart strongly encourages local pickup customers to OPT-IN because we believe in the value of Local Comic Shops and we want Dark Tower to succeed by earning your business with great service. This is also the best option for uninterrupted service, and we don’t want anyone to miss a single issue!

Q: I’ve decided to OPT-IN to continue local pickup of my subscriptions/pre-orders with Dark Tower. Do I need to do anything with my subscriptions/pre-orders already placed with G-Mart?

A: No! OPT-IN is the easiest way to guarantee seamless uninterrupted service! We will handle all the details.
NOTE: extremely delayed releases will be handled case-by-case, but you will get them one way or another.

Q: Can I still pick up my books from G-Mart at the Chicago and Champaign retail stores?

A: Pre-orders currently placed with G-Mart will be available for pickup at the retail locations through December 10, 2023, which roughly covers through the November order cycle.

After that, G-Mart will no longer be offering local pickup for customers.
OPT-IN customers will continue seamless uninterrupted service with Dark Tower.
OPT-OUT customers can choose when to start shipping service, either manually by switching to shipping service on the G-Mart website "Customer Information" page, or automatically on December 10, 2023.

Q: I’m a Chicago or Champaign local pickup customer with G-Mart and I want to switch to shipping service with G Mart. How do I do that?

A: after choosing OPT-OUT, customers can then choose exactly when to start shipping service, either manually by switching to shipping service on the G-Mart website, or automatically on December 10, 2023.
For manual switching to shipping, login to the G-Mart website, go to the "Customer Information" page, click the "Pickup" dropdown, choose one of the shipping options, and then fill in the detailed shipping options.
NOTE: manual switching is strongly preferred because it gives you full control over the shipping options.

Q: When is the final deadline to decide whether to OPT-IN to transfer my subscriptions/pre-orders to Dark Tower or to OPT-OUT to switch my G-Mart account to shipping?

A: Customers should OPT-IN before October 25, 2023, for smoothest uninterrupted service.
Customers may still OPT-IN from October 26, 2023 through December 10, 2023, but will experience some delays with local pickups for the December order cycle.

Q: Will my discount change with the Dark Tower Pull Box Service?

A: Yes, the Dark Tower Pull Box Service does have a different discount structure. You can either view the discount structure here or ask a G-Mart associate in-store for details.
NOTE: G-Mart strongly encourages local pickup customers to OPT-IN because we believe in the value of Local Comic Shops and we want Dark Tower to succeed by earning your business with great service.

Q: Will my subscription service be interrupted?

A: No! OPT-IN customers will have seamless uninterrupted service, especially those who OPT-IN before October 25, 2023. OPT-OUT customers will also have uninterrupted service, with the only decision when to switch to shipping service. Our goal is to make sure your subscriptions are not disrupted and no one misses a single issue!

Q: What safeguards are you taking to protect customer privacy and personal information?

A: None of your information will be transferred to Dark Tower Comics without your express OPT-IN consent.
For OPT-IN customers G-Mart will transfer your account information and records of your recent subscriptions and pre-orders to Dark Tower by secure means in order to provide uninterrupted subscription services.
G-Mart will NOT transfer your payment information to Dark Tower; instead, when you come to Dark Tower for pickup you will be asked to provide updated payment information.
